Lead Analyst – PolicyCenter

The Lead Analyst – PolicyCenter will perform and oversee BA and QA work, analyzing complex change requests for PolicyCenter (PC). The ideal candidate will work with functional areas of the business to understand their needs and then prepare design documents for the Frontline IT organization to develop from. This person will validate testing approaches and review test case coverage, including, integration testing, regression testing, and negative testing. They will also monitor and ensure alignment of functional test cases with requirements. The Lead Analyst – PC will also serve in a leadership role on the PC team to onboard, mentor, and supervise other Business Analysts and QA Analysts. The Lead Analyst – PC will recommend and enforce BA & QA standards across the PC team.

Essential Duties

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge on the Guidewire PolicyCenter system, our implementation, and corresponding business processes.
  • Onboard new PC BAs and QAs and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Contribute and enforce continuous improvement of best practices and established processes.
  • Audit PC BA and QA deliverables for quality and consistency.
  • Communicate PC BA and QA status and escalate any concerns to management.
  • Perform semi-annual performance reviews for all PC BAs and QAs.
  • Be the liaison between functional leads, development teams and support teams.
  • Participate in New Initiative Design Solution workshops.
  • Work with major functional areas of the business to understand and document change requests submitted to the IT organization.
  • Knowledgeable on integrations with internal and external applications; research any dependencies and work on system design plan with solution architect and developers.
  • Review and analyze how changes to the business process and / or business needs will impact technical requirements throughout the system and organization.
  • Determine testing approach and develop integrated end-to-end functional, including manual and automated test cases.
  • Create Software Requirements Specifications, use cases, technical requirements, wireframes, system flow diagrams, and other documentation for Guidewire configurations and custom software development projects.
  • Shepherd ideas through the System Development Life Cycle to ensure new business processes and system changes are documented, developed, tested, and promoted successfully.
  • Be involved in all steps of the ongoing Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) including but not limited to; requirements analysis, test planning, writing and reviewing test cases, executing test cases, and bug logging, tracking and closing.
  • Work with the QA team to ensure test cases are current, correct, and cover alternative paths for existing and new system functionality.
  • Coordinate UAT support and release night coverage from the PC team with the Release Manager.
  • Monitor reported PC production issues to ensure ServiceNow SLAs are met.



  • Thorough knowledge of agile methodologies
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • Skilled at writing detailed Software Requirements Specifications, use cases, and wireframes.
  • Strong background using defect-ticketing software (such as Rally, JIRA, QTest etc.) to document software defects for development teams.
  • Skilled at negotiating consensus among departments that request sometimes conflicting or inconsistent software requirements.
  • Hands-on implementation and support experience on Guidewire PolicyCenter projects – Product model, Policy transactions and life cycle, Rating, Forms and external third party Integrations etc..


This job supervises PolicyCenter Business Analysts and QA Analysts.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience leadings team of Business Analysts and Quality Analysts.
  • 7+ years of Guidewire PolicyCenter projects – Implementations, Upgrades, Conversions etc.
  • Hands-on implementation and support experience on Guidewire PolicyCenter projects.
  • Can do attitude with excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in team situations and share knowledge freely.
  • Great interpersonal skills and able to manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work on tasks with competing priority.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a self-starter attitude required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)


College Degree and 10+ years related IT BA experience.
7+ years of experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter projects
