SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver solutions that satisfy business requirements, according to design best practices, performance, and security. This role requires a blend of technical leadership and hands-on development. Primary responsibilities include hands-on support of Insurance suite systems, support development team, and train team members.

Essential Duties

  • Provide expertise and actively involve in designing, developing, and maintaining GOSU language application code within Guidewire Policy Center, Billing Center and/or Claim Center.
  • Work under the guidance of lead solutions architect in providing cross-domain, cross-functional and cross-industry expertise and recognizes opportunities to apply technical solutions across multiple initiatives.
  • Actively involve in architecting solutions, hands on configuring, development of complex functionality, and provide guidance with technical configuration work of development team
  • Create and implement technical process modeling, user interface designs, and data modeling where and as needed.
  • Participate in a variety of planning and development activities.
  • Provides input and support for planning and time estimates for current or proposed projects
  • Participate in user workshops to provide guidance and solutions on the technical and business challenges related to new initiatives
  • Work with application and infrastructure teams to review or produce optimal, high level designs.
  • Provide technical training and consultation to other members of the IT organization.
  • Help resolving high priority & high severity production system issues
  • Conduct code technical design reviews, walk-throughs, and other technical reviews throughout project lifecycles.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and vendors

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in solution areas such as application design and development, application integration, database management or operations, information security, and technical architecture
  • 5+ years Guidewire Insurance Suite experience
  • Strong knowledge of Java/JEE, Web Services (SOAP and REST)
  • Proven Ability to develop detailed solution designs. Understands Architecture Constructs – (Architecture & Design patterns, protocols SOAP, REST etc.), Development Methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • A broad technical knowledge of software (platforms, languages, APIs, database, and front-end development)
  • Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, analytical, and presentation skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly through self-study
  • Strong knowledge of software development processes and best practices

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Master’s Degree is a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must possess the ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos as well as write simple correspondence. Must also be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be proficient with the following: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Must also be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
